The room for experimental work and research is equipped with following devices and machines:

1 The Walter-Klement high pressure torsion press

The press is intended for manufacturing samples of ultrafine-grained metals and alloys by severe plastic deformation. The method of pressure torsion is implemented in this installation. The installation was customized by the Austrian company Walter-Klement and has a unique tool that allows detailed monitoring of power characteristics of severe plastic deformation process of a sample. Also, the press is equipped with an induction heating system of the sample and controlled by a computer with the special software.

2 The SIC Delta-Test electrical discharge machine ARTA 123 PRO

The machine is intended for manufacturing test specimens and various necessary tools with high precision (1-2 micrometers). The machine has a program control and allows producing parts from computer drawings.

3 The Shimadzu tensile machine AG-50kNX

The machine is intended for carrying out mechanical tests of nanostructured and ultrafine-grained materials after severe plastic deformation. It is equipped with a video extensometer for precise measurement of small samples deformation.

The Bueller grinding and polishing machine Ecomet 250 PRO with AutoMet 250 power head

The machine is intended for processing of material billets for further investigation of physical and mechanical parameters of materials after severe plastic deformation.

5 The Nabertherm muffle furnace N40E

The furnace is intended for roasting billets at temperatures up to 1300 ̊С before and after severe plastic deformation.

6 The SNOL 58/350 oven

The oven is intended for drying, normalization and tempering of metal billets at temperatures from 50 ̊С to 350 ̊С before and after severe plastic deformation.

7 The Shimadzu microhardness tester HMV-G21DT

The tester allows measuring microhardness and determining the uniformity of physico-mechanical parameters of a material by the billet area before and after severe plastic deformation.

8 The LOMO stereoscopic microscope MSP-2 2nd edition

The microscope is intended to study the samples structure. It is equipped with a digital camera TC-500 with a video adapter and MicroAnalysis-View software.

9 The OHAUS analytical balances Pioneer PA-214 C

The balances is intended for weighing samples and billets.

10 Water distiller DE-25М

The apparatus is intended for obtaining distilled water.

11 Equal-channel angular pressing facility

The facility is intended for manufacturing samples of ultrafine-grained metals and alloys by equal-channel angular pressing.
